Tour of High-Performance Homes with Architect Virge Temme

Four High-Performance homes will be on display, showing diverse designs and construction techniques.  Homeowners and members of the Wisconsin Passive House Alliance will be on hand to explain design and construction strategies used in each home, all in the effort to reduce global climate impact, reduce energy bills, and create healthier, quieter, and cleaner homes.  

There will be 4 individual home tours, starting sharply at 10 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm, and 2:30 pm.

Attendees will be spread into 4 even sized groups, each group starting at a different house, driving from home to home (For example A -> B -> C -> D … or B -> C -> D -> A, etc).

Please plan to pay $30 with check or cash on the day of the event, at the first home.

Carpooling will be encouraged, starting at a public parking lot close to the first house. Please meet at the public parking lot near the first house at 9:40 am to meet and coordinate, per the confirmation email.

C. Home of Kurt & Jone Kiefer.   7960 Deer Crest Court, Baileys Harbor, Designed by Architect Virge Temme.  Net-Zero Energy. Emphasis on windows and doors.

D. Home of Steve & Denise Mumma.  10659 Lakewood Lane Sister Bay.  Designed by Architect Virge Temme.  Net-Zero Energy-Ready. Emphasis on HVAC/climate control.

Join us for this unique opportunity to meet and ask questions with Door County’s own award winning high-energy-performance home designer. Architect Virge Temme focuses on environmentally responsible and energy efficient design. A leader in green design and LEED certified projects in Northeastern Wisconsin, she is an active member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and is on the steering committee for the Climate Change Coalition of Door County. Virge received her Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois, and has been a professional residential designer since 1988. Widely recognized as an expert in the field of green architecture and sustainable design, Virge is often a featured speaker, panelist and author on these issues. Virge Temme Architecture, Inc. was founded in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin in 1999.
