Project Drawdown.

  • Donald and Carol Kress Pavilion 7845 Church Street Egg Harbor, WI, 54209 United States (map)

Project Drawdown will be the focus Monday, June 17, when the Climate Change Coalition of Door County hosts a program highlighting the work of this world-class research and communication organization, which is successfully shifting the global climate change conversation from doom and despair to a growing sense of opportunity and hope for the future. The program will begin at 7 pm at Egg Harbor’s Kress Pavilion, 7845 Church St.

Project Drawdown and its efforts to reduce global warming grew out of the book Drawdown, in which scientists around the world analyze 100 effective actions to stop and potentially even reverse global warming. The book assesses the costs and benefits of each action – including the long-term savings that will result for everyone from almost every action.

The program will include a TED Talk video on the Project followed by a discussion about the actions identified and prioritized by Drawdown, what surprises it offers and what strategies are most applicable in Wisconsin and in our daily lives. Roy Thilly will lead this discussion.

UPDATE: Jonathan Foley, Project Drawdown’s executive director, is slated to join the program by video link.

The program is free and open to the public. Freewill donations to support the Climate Change Coalition’s work are gratefully accepted.
