Our Mission

Our mission is to lead collective climate action, education, and outreach in Door County.

Our VISION

We envision a resilient world with communities actively working together to sustain a stable climate.

WHat we Believe

In addition to our Core Climate Change Statement, we focus our efforts on educating the public so they may be able to effectively communicate in regards to the effects of climate change, the solutions, and the adaptations we can take to continue to thrive in a changing climate. In 2020 the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) tasked the Climate Change Coalition with the creation of the Core Climate Change Statement and encouraging other LNRP partner organizations to create a consistent climate change message that is unique to their mission and environmental focus. Giving others the ability to speak independently and with authority about climate change will aid in CCCDC’s mission to inspire climate action so we can see real solutions and adaptation policies put into place in our local communities and across the state of Wisconsin.

To learn more about how to effectively communicate about climate change within your organization please review our Climate Change Activity Worksheet developed by Katie Krouse, Project Manager at The Ridges Sanctuary. Or CONTACT US.

Inspiring Acton

In 2019, Wisconsin’s Governor, Tony Evers, created a Climate Change Task Force lead by Lt. Governor Barnes. CCCDC is grateful to the Governor for its creation and has submitted a list of recommendations to substantially reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and improve public health through reduced air and water pollution.

What WE DO

CCCDC works to raise awareness of climate change in Door County and beyond through a variety of channels focused on the important collateral benefits of climate action, including:

Where We Live

Climate Change Coalition and the greater Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership humbly acknowledge what is now known as eastern Wisconsin as part of the ancestral homeland of the Menominee Nation. We recognize the Menominee as well as more recent Nations that have lived and thrived on this land that we love and celebrate. As we work to cultivate conservation, collaboration, and community, we recognize the Indigenous peoples as the original and longest-serving caretakers of this land. We respect their traditional ecological knowledge and reverence for the natural world and seek to honor those values and priorities as we continue to steward the shared land and water of Wisconsin’s Lakeshore region.
