Climate Workshop at The Clearing – 2 days

Thurs Jan 30 & ThurS Feb 6, from 9 am to 12 Noon

Instructors Deneen Hopkins Wiske, Roy Thilly, & Jeff Lutsey

On these two days, we will work together to answer the questions:

(1) What are the most significant climate risks and vulnerabilities to Door County?

(2) How do we begin creating a resilience plan to address those risks?

On Day 1 (Jan. 30), we will summarize current climate data and Door County climate work to date. Climate resilience expert Sascha Peterson of Adaptation International, will introduce community-level climate action planning, provide examples from other communities, and offer suggestions for our approach and strategy.

On Day 2 (Feb 6), we will build upon our work from Day 1 to identify and prioritize the climate risks we face in Door County. We will break into working groups that will each focus on a specific vulnerability and brainstorm practical next steps to address the risk to develop a resilience action plan for each risk.

Our goal over these two days is to create the roadmap to help us organize and inspire community-wide involvement in climate resilience planning, and engage key partners and supporters to fully develop and execute a Door County Climate Resilience Plan. Results from this workshop will be immediately incorporated into the Climate Change Coalition’s 2025 work plan with work and milestones as soon as spring 2025.
